What Happens at Closing?

Closing day is the finish line in the home buying process. Knowing what to expect helps ease nerves—especially for first-time buyers.

Before closing

You’ll complete a final walkthrough to ensure the home is in the expected condition.

At the closing table

You’ll review and sign documents related to your loan and the property transfer. This may include:

  • Loan disclosures

  • Title documents

  • Closing disclosures

Funds and keys

Once the paperwork is signed and funds are released, you’ll officially get the keys.

How long it takes

Most closings take about 1–2 hours.

Takeaway: Closing day brings everything together and officially transfers ownership to you.
